ISLAMABAD: Pakistani medical graduates have achieved another major success on the global stage, as Pakistani doctors have outshined the Indian medical graduates in the US Residency Program.
According to details, more than 1,400 Pakistani doctors were selected for the US Residency Program, whereas only 400 medical doctors from India successfully qualified for the program.
According to a report released here on Saturday by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Pakistani doctors secured the most opportunities in the field of American Fellowship Medicine, while the USMLE program provides doctors with excellent opportunities for advanced medical education and professional training.
PMDC while appreciating the achievements of the Pakistani medical graduates at global level has said that the remarkable progress made by Pakistani medical graduates in international licensing examinations and residency pathways, particularly the United States Residency Program, reflects the positive impact of improved medical education standards, updated curricula, and forward-looking policies introduced by PMDC.
The journey of Pakistani doctors achieving success on the global stage is a story of dedication, hard work, and the continuous transformation of medical education in Pakistan by the PMDC.
The significant increase compared with previous years reflects the growing preparedness, confidence, and global competitiveness of Pakistani doctors. The rising number of Pakistani graduates successfully progressing toward US residency opportunities demonstrates the impact of strengthened medical education standards, updated curricula, and improved regulatory policies.
The outstanding performance of the Pakistani medical graduates, who are increasingly achieving the top positions at global level, place them among the leading groups of international medical graduates, which one was dominated by larger applicant pools from countries such as India. The landscape is witnessing a significant rise in the representation and success of Pakistani doctors, highlighting their growing competitiveness and recognition in the global medical community.
President, PMDC Prof Dr Rizwan Taj congratulating the successful Pakistani medical graduates has stated that the success of Pakistani young doctors is a source of pride for Pakistan. Every graduate who succeeds internationally represents the dedication of students, teachers, institutions, and the reforms introduced to improve medical education. PMDC will continue its mission to raise standards, support medical institutions, and create opportunities for Pakistani doctors to excel anywhere in the world, Dr Taj maintained.
