Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday said the government has a zero-tolerance policy against hoarding, speculation, and artificial price hikes.
He said this while chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad to take stock of the availability of sugar across the country and ensure price stability for consumers.
DPM Dar reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted supply of sugar at affordable prices.
The Ministry of National Food Security and Research, in coordination with provincial food departments, briefed the meeting on current sugar stocks, production projections, and market price trends.
After a thorough review of the data, the meeting expressed satisfaction over the availability and supply position.
Separately, chairing an Inter-Ministerial meeting to review Pakistan’s efforts to enhance economic diplomacy, DPM/FM Dar on Saturday emphasised the importance of intensifying efforts at the international and regional levels to promote Pakistan’s economy, including through enhanced compliance with international standards and obligations, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.
The meeting was attended by SAPM Tariq Bajwa, the Secretaries of Foreign Affairs and the Cabinet Division, and senior officials from relevant departments.
During the meeting, the DPM/FM reaffirmed government’s commitment to sustainable economic stabilisation and instructed all stakeholders to intensify their efforts in this regard.
