DPM Dar expresses support for UN's central role in global affairs

Pakistan's DPM Mohammad Ishaq Dar affirmed support for multilateralism and UN's central role, urging reforms and resolutions for Palestine and Kashmir with UN Secretary-General candidate María Fernanda Espinosa.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday expressed Pakistan’s full support for strengthening multilateralism and ensuring the central role of the United Nations in global affairs.
He said this while talking to former foreign minister of Ecuador and current candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General María Fernanda Espinosa, who called on him in Islamabad.
Welcoming María Fernanda, the deputy prime minister expressed hope that the incoming secretary-general will carry out much-needed reforms in the United Nations and ensure the implementation of longstanding UN Security Council resolutions, especially for Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, which remain crucial for lasting peace in the Middle East and South Asia.
DPM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue working to promote the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, respect for international law and treaties, and active international cooperation for global peace and prosperity.
