KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced to discontinue the Sohni Dharti Remittance Programme (SDRP), a government-backed point-based loyalty scheme for overseas Pakistanis, sending remittances through formal banking channels.
According to a circular issued by the SBP, no further reward points under SDRP will be awarded from the start of FY27 (i.e. July 01, 2026). Accordingly, eligible transactions processed up to June 30, 2026, will be reported to 1LINK for awarding of points under the scheme.
However, the SBP has mentioned that reward points already awarded and accumulated till June 30, 2026, would remain redeemable till the end of FY27 (i.e. June 30, 2027). Thereafter, SDRP will become completely non-functional effective from July 01, 2027.
The Sohni Dharti Remittance Programme was a point-based loyalty scheme for overseas Pakistanis who send money to their loved ones in Pakistan through banking channels or exchange companies.
Under the programme, overseas Pakistanis were able earn reward points based on the total amount of remittances they send during a fiscal year. The incentive was divided into four tiers, with higher remittance volumes earning progressively more reward points.
Remitters sending up to USD 10,000 in a fiscal year were qualified for the “Green” tier and receive reward points equal to 1.0 percent of the remitted amount.
