ISLAMABAD: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has incurred a staggering net loss of Rs45.381 billion in FY 2024-25 amid widespread financial mismanagement, overbilling, weak internal controls and serious governance lapses, according to the Auditor General of Pakistan’s latest audit report for 2025-26.

The audit has painted a troubling picture of the state-owned power distribution company, warning that its financial sustainability is “critical” and raising concerns about its viability as a going concern.

According to the report, LESCO’s total revenue stood at Rs660.118 billion against total expenditure of Rs728.268 billion, resulting in a significant deficit.

The company’s balance sheet further reveals deep structural weaknesses, with total liabilities of Rs567.775 billion far exceeding its total assets of Rs392.824 billion.
