KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Shrjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday said the provincial government is accelerating development projects in multiple sectors as part of its public welfare programme.

Speaking after meetings with various public delegations at his office, said projects in roads, transport, healthcare, education, irrigation, energy and urban infrastructure were progressing at a good pace in various districts of the province.

He said the government was prioritising the timely completion of schemes, strict quality control and ensuring that projects deliver tangible benefits to citizens. Special focus was being placed on infrastructure and urban development in major cities, including Karachi.

Memon said reforms in Karachi’s public transport system were meant to provide safer and more efficient commuting options. The steps had been taken to upgrade hospitals, expand access to modern medical facilities and provide free treatment to the public.

In the education sector, rehabilitation of schools and programmes to improve standards and expand opportunities for young people were under way, he said.

Memon said the government remained committed to its development agenda despite economic challenges and the impact of natural disasters, adding that further major projects would be completed in the coming years to support economic and urban growth.
