ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Tuesday reduced liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices for July. The price of an 11.8kg domestic LPG cylinder has been cut by Rs794.50, bringing the new price down to Rs2,848.91 for the month.

“The LPG producer price is linked with Saudi Aramco-CP and the US dollar exchange rate. As compared to the previous month, Saudi Aramco-CP has decreased by 25.62 percent.

The average Dollar exchange rate has slightly decreased by 0.11 percent, resulting in a decrease in the LPG consumer price by Rs.794.50/11.8 kg cylinder (21.80 percent).

The per Kg decrease in LPG consumer price is Rs.67.30, the OGRA notification stated.

The revised rates will remain in force throughout July, with household consumers expected to receive relief, particularly in areas where natural gas is not available.

Around 27 percent of the population has access to natural/RLNG system gas, and the rest rely upon LPG, wood, kerosene oil, and other items for cooking and heating purposes.
