SHIKARPUR: Former Sindh Minister for Energy and Member of the Sindh Assembly Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh visited the control room established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shikarpur to review arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.
On the occasion, he also chaired a high-level meeting to assess law and order, security measures and facilities being provided to mourners during Muharram. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Shakeel Ahmed Abro, SSP Shikarpur Muhammad Kaleem Malik, Vice Chairman Municipal Committee Waseem Siddiqui, Dr Jahangir Sheikh, Dr Syed Athar Ali Shah, Dr Parvez Soomro, Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Dr Jai Prakash and officers and representatives of various departments.
During the meeting, officials of the relevant institutions briefed participants on the arrangements made for Muharram-ul-Haram.
Addressing the meeting, Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh directed all concerned departments to ensure the provision of all possible facilities to mourners, mourning processions and Imambargahs during the 9th and 10th of Muharram. He emphasized that stringent security measures should be put in place along the traditional routes of mourning processions, while uninterrupted water supply and fully functional medical aid camps should be ensured for the convenience of mourners. He further instructed all departments to perform their responsibilities effectively through close coordination and mutual cooperation.
Later, Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed Abro, SSP Muhammad Kaleem Malik, DHO Dr Abdul Hafeez Abro and other officials, visited various Imambargahs across the city. During the visits, he met organizers and reviewed arrangements, security measures and facilities being provided to mourners for Muharram-ul-Haram. Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, he also issued necessary directives for further improvement.
