LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has emerged as a leading power distribution company in Pakistan’s net metering sector, surpassing a significant milestone with more than 135,000 active net metering connections and a cumulative capacity exceeding 2,000 megawatts, according to the latest figures released for the May 2026 billing month.
LESCO reported that a total of 135,837 net metering connections have been activated across its service region, contributing a combined generation capacity of 2,053 megawatts. The achievement places the utility among the top-performing distribution companies (DISCOs) in the country in terms of renewable energy integration and consumer participation in net metering.
In compliance with directives issued by the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), all 1,204 pending net metering applications received before February 9, 2026, have been migrated to the PITC web portal. The move is aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and timely processing of applications, according to LESCO.
Meanwhile, applications submitted after February 9, 2026, are being processed through the PITC Net Billing Portal in accordance with the NEPRA regulations 2026. LESCO clarified that under the revised NEPRA policy, all new applications for net metering system upgrades or capacity enhancements submitted after February 9, 2026, will fall under the net billing framework.
LESCO Chief Executive Officer Engr. Ramzan Butt reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safeguarding consumer interests. He stated that all requests related to net metering and net billing are being processed strictly in accordance with NEPRA regulations to ensure transparency, fairness, and compliance with the applicable policy framework.
