ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Tuesday announced the successful commencement of gas production from the Sahito-1 discovery well in the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand) within the Khewari Exploration Licence located in Khairpur district, Sindh.

The gas discovery at Sahito-1 was announced on March 26, 2026. The well is currently producing 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Production is expected to increase progressively following the planned expansion of surface facilities.

To facilitate early monetization of the discovery, the OGDCL has laid a 6-inch, 5-kilometre flowline connecting the well to the Suleman Gathering Facility for onward processing at the Sinjhoro Plant. The processed gas is being injected into the network of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGCL).

Sahito-1 is located in the Khairpur district of Sindh. The OGDCL, as operator of the Khewari Exploration Licence, holds a 75 percent working interest in the joint venture, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holds the remaining 25 percent interest.

The commencement of production from Sahito-1 marks another important milestone in OGDCL’s efforts to accelerate the development and monetization of indigenous hydrocarbon resources, strengthen domestic energy supplies, and contribute to the country’s energy security.
