ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has repatriated eight Iranian fishermen rescued at sea by the British vessel MMA Valour after their boat ran aground. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM) Mohammad Ishaq Dar announced on his X platform on Monday.

They were repatriated and departed from Karachi for Iran on Monday morning, he stated.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all concerned authorities coordinated closely with the Iranian and UK authorities to facilitate the safe transit and early return of our Iranian brethren to their homeland.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi appeared on X handle and appreciated the repatriation of Iranian fishermen and reposed trust in Pakistan. The return of eight fishermen was made possible with Pakistan’s facilitation.

Pakistan’s Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) handed over a group of eight Iranian fishermen who were rescued at sea to a team from the Iranian Consulate General in Karachi. The Iranian fishermen will return to Iran via the Gabd-Rimdan land border on Monday, Araghchi added.
