ISLAMABAD: Senior puisne judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Munib Akhtar, took oath as the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan on Monday.

The oath was administered by Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui in a simple and dignified ceremony held at the Supreme Court Branch Registry, Karachi.

Justice Munib Akhtar will act as Chief Justice of Pakistan during the absence of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, who is scheduled to represent Pakistan at the International Legal Forum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, from June 24 to 26.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by judges of the Supreme Court and the Federal Constitutional Court. The Registrar of the Supreme Court conducted the proceedings of the oath-taking ceremony. The Officers and staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
