LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to launch an immediate crackdown on major food chains that are violating tax laws.

During a review meeting, PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra ordered strict action against those who have failed to comply with previous instructions.

According to the PRA, monitoring of food chains revealed repeated violations of tax laws, with several multinational food chains also found to be involved in irregularities. Business activities are being monitored through digital surveillance, data analytics, and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.

The authority is intensifying efforts to impose penalties, recover outstanding dues, and initiate legal proceedings against entities engaged in tax fraud. For the first time in its history, the PRA has fully mobilised to pursue a significant revenue target.

While addressing the meeting, the PRA chairman emphasised the importance of taking decisive action against all parties that cause losses to the public treasury. He also stated that enforcement measures, audit mechanisms, and the use of technology would be strengthened to achieve revenue targets more effectively.
