Squash Development Project: Bank Alfalah to help restore sporting legacy
KARACHI: Bank Alfalah has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BARD Foundation to support the development of the BARD Squash Complex, a landmark initiative aimed at contributing to the revival and advancement of squash in Pakistan, to encourage youth development, and create a world-class facility capable of nurturing future national and international champions.
Under the partnership, Bank Alfalah will provide sponsorship support of PKR 50 million, plus applicable taxes, towards the development of the squash complex. The facility is envisioned as a modern sporting hub that will host tournaments, deliver structured training programmes, and support community engagement initiatives designed to expand access to the sport and strengthen Pakistan’s squash ecosystem. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment by both organisations to promote sports development, empower young athletes, and create pathways for sporting excellence.
Atif Bajwa, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank Alfalah, said: “The private sector has an important role to play in supporting sports development, as demonstrated by successful models around the world. We are delighted to partner with the BARD Foundation in this initiative and look forward to contributing towards the growth of squash, athlete development, and greater opportunities for young players in Pakistan.”
As part of the sponsorship arrangement, Bank Alfalah will receive exclusive naming rights to the facility’s All-Glass Championship Court, along with prominent branding and signage across the complex. The bank’s logo will also feature on designated court surfaces, tournament-related materials, and broadcast coverage where applicable.
Additional benefits include VIP lifetime memberships, priority booking access for Bank Alfalah employees, and recognition across launch events and promotional campaigns associated with the project.
Speaking at the ceremony, BARD Foundation President Abdul Razak Dawood said, “The development of sports in Pakistan requires meaningful collaboration between the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. I am pleased to see organizations coming together with a shared vision to support athletes and strengthen the sporting ecosystem. Such partnerships can play a vital role in creating opportunities for emerging talent and fostering excellence in sports.”
