LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Saturday the province had entered the era of “one-stop agriculture input markets”, under which farmers are being provided all essential agricultural services and facilities under one roof near their villages for the first time.
According to an official statement, four Model Agriculture Malls have been established in Punjab, while the chief minister has directed authorities to take immediate steps for setting up similar facilities in 10 more districts.
The statement said the Model Agriculture Malls in Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Sargodha were fully operational, offering agricultural inputs, consultation with agricultural experts and a range of other services for farmers.
Farmers will also be able to rent modern agricultural machinery from the malls. The facilities are being managed by the GCCI in collaboration with the private sector.
The statement added that Model Agriculture Malls would also be established in Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara and Khanewal, while similar projects were planned for Rajanpur, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, Attock and Mianwali.
The CM Punjab said the Punjab government would continue taking every possible step to facilitate farmers and improve their livelihoods. “The destiny of Punjab’s farmers has changed, and better days have arrived,” she said.
The chief minister further said that Model Agriculture Malls would be established across all districts of Punjab in phases to enhance access to modern agricultural services and strengthen support for the farming community.
