ISLAMABAD: Four people were killed in a road accident, while two persons, including a woman, allegedly committed suicide. Dozens of incidents of vehicle theft, robbery, and street crime were also reported in the heavily guarded federal capital during the past week.

According to data collected by Business Recorder, at least 50 criminal cases, including vehicle theft, robberies, street crimes, road accidents, and alleged suicides, were registered at various police stations across the city. Of these, 32 cases were related to vehicle theft, seven to armed robberies, and eight to street crimes, during which citizens were deprived of cash, mobile phones, jewellery, and other valuables at gunpoint.

Several areas emerged as crime hotspots, particularly those falling under the jurisdictions of Shehzad Town, Khanna, Kirpa, Humak, and Sabzi Mandi police stations, where criminal groups have reportedly become increasingly active.

In a major burglary incident, robbers broke into the residence of lawyer Jaseem Ahmed Bhutto and stole gold ornaments, cash, and valuable electronic items within the limits of Karachi Company Police Station.

The victim had gone out of town with his family for a few days when unidentified burglars allegedly broke into his locked apartment. Bhutto told police that upon returning home, he found the main door’s lock broken and household items scattered throughout the apartment.

In another tragic incident, four people were killed and four others injured in a road accident within the jurisdiction of Bhara Kahu Police Station.

According to police, two luxury vehicles travelling from Murree towards Islamabad were allegedly involved in a race when they collided and subsequently struck six motorcycles and at least two other vehicles near Athal Chowk.

As a result of the accident, four people, including Amir, Adeel, and two unidentified individuals, were crushed to death by the speeding vehicles. Four others, identified as Afzaal, Anas, Raja Madad, and Usama, sustained serious injuries.

In a separate incident, a man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Tarnol Phatak within the limits of Tarnol Railway Station. The motive behind the incident could not be ascertained.

Furthermore, a 38-year-old woman, Marium Malik, allegedly died after jumping from the 13th floor of a commercial building at the Mall of Imarat. The deceased was a resident of Jinnah Gardens and the mother of three children.

During the same period, three cases of vehicle theft and one case of street crime were reported at Shehzad Town Police Station. Khanna Police Station registered one case of street crime and three cases of car theft, while Kirpa Police Station recorded two robbery cases and one incident of street crime.
