KARACHI: Sindh government has approved induction of hundred more electric buses into the public transport network.

This was stated by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who holds the portfolios of information, transport and mass transit.

He said expansion of the EV fleet would not only improve commuting facilities, but it would also promote clean and environment-friendly transportation across the province. In his message on the occasion of the World Environment Day, the senior minister said that adopting an environment-friendly lifestyle had become essential in view of the growing environment challenges facing the world.

The minister said that the Sindh government had taken several measures to protect the environment, setting an example for sustainable development in the country.

Memon said that Sindh government’s efforts to promote green transportation aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving urban mobility. He said that for the first time in Pakistan, eco-friendly EV buses and EV scooters had been launched, marking a significant step toward sustainable public transport.

He added that the modern transport system is providing citizens with safe, comfortable, and high-quality travel facilities while contributing to a substantial reduction in pollution and fuel consumption.
