ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting on Thursday to review the Fuel Subsidy Scheme. He took stock of the relief being provided to public transport operators, motorcycle owners, and farmers to mitigate the impact of higher fuel prices due to regional tensions and war-related disruptions.

The meeting reviewed implementation progress, including transparency, accountability, and coordination with provincial governments. Four tranches have already been disbursed over the past two months on a biweekly basis.

DPM/FM expressed satisfaction with the overall progress and directed continued coordination and strengthened accountability to ensure maximum benefit reaches the intended beneficiaries.

It was decided that the 5th and 6th tranches of the scheme will be disbursed in June 2026 as part of the ongoing rollout.

The meeting was attended by SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Federal Secretary Petroleum, Chief Secretaries Sindh, KP & Punjab, as well as concerned officials from GB, ICT and other government federal and provincial officials.
