ISLAMABAD: In light of the news about the alleged murder of four Pakistani farmers in Italy, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Tuesday that the “exact nationality of the deceased” is still to be ascertained.
FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi responded to media queries hours after the local newspaper, reported that two Pakistanis had been arrested by the Italian police on suspicion of having killed four Pakistanis, whose burnt corpses were found inside a minivan in the south of Italy.
The FO declared that while it was being claimed that the deceased were Pakistanis, there were no confirmation as yet with regards to their exact nationality, as the investigations were underway in that regard.
“The embassy of Pakistan in Italy has been monitoring the progress and staying in constant touch with the local authorities regarding the incident,” the FO stated.
“Italian newspaper Corrieredella Sera reported that the burnt vehicle, containing four charred bodies, was found near the petrol station situated close to the village of Amendolara in the extensive agricultural region of Calabria.”
