SHCBA files petition against EOBI

KARACHI: In a significant development for the legal fraternity, the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) and a leading law firm, through SHCBA President Muhammad Haseeb Jamali, filed Constitutional Petition No. D-3469 of 2026 before the High Court of Sindh against the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).
The petition challenged the legality of notices issued by EOBI seeking the registration of lawyers and law firms, along with the payment of contributions under the applicable EOBI laws.
During the proceedings, Muhammad Haseeb Jamali, ASC, personally appeared before the Court on behalf of the petitioners. After hearing the matter, the Honourable Court was pleased to suspend the operation of the impugned notices issued by EOBI until further orders.
SHCBA has advised all advocates and law firms receiving similar notices from EOBI for registration or contribution to approach the SHCBA office for legal assistance, guidance, and further coordination regarding the matter.
Reaffirming its commitment to the legal community, SHCBA stated that it remains steadfast in safeguarding the rights, independence, and professional interests of lawyers and law firms across the province.
