UNSC adopts Pakistan-drafted annual report by consensus
Pakistan introduced the UN Security Council's annual report to the General Assembly, detailing the Council's 2025 work on global crises, emerging threats, and its role in promoting international peace and stability.

The UN Security Council has adopted by consensus an annual report to the UN General Assembly drafted and introduced by Pakistan, highlighting the Council’s work across a wide range of crises and thematic issues.
Speaking at the adoption of the draft report, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said the report provides a comprehensive overview of the Council’s engagement during 2025.
It also captures the breadth of contemporary threats to international peace and security, including ongoing and emerging conflicts, humanitarian emergencies and evolving risks.
The ambassador said despite persistent conflicts and heightened tensions that at times complicated efforts to advance political settlements and collective action, the Council continued to play a central role in promoting stability, supporting peace processes and reinforcing multilateral cooperation in pursuit of durable peace and security.
