LAHORE: Zia-ul-Mustafa Awan, Chairman of the Public Sector Advisory Committee of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), presented the draft of the “ESG Framework for Public Sector Entities in the South Asian Region” to the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar.

The framework has been developed under the platform of the SAFA Public Sector Advisory Committee to promote Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, transparency, accountability, and sustainable public sector governance across South Asian countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Zia-ul-Mustafa Awan stated that the framework represents a collective regional effort aimed at strengthening sustainability, institutional governance, and responsible public sector practices in the region.

He expressed sincere gratitude to all committee members from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal for their valuable contributions and acknowledged the support of the President, Vice President, Board Members, and leadership of SAFA in the development of the framework.

The proposed framework covers key areas including environmental sustainability, social responsibility, governance structures, ESG reporting, assurance mechanisms, and implementation roadmaps for public sector entities in South Asia.
