LAHORE: Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan has stated that Youm-e-Takbeer represents Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to national sovereignty, strategic stability, and collective national dignity.

He remarked that Pakistan’s emergence as a nuclear power established a credible balance of power in South Asia and reinforced the country’s ability to safeguard its territorial integrity and independence in an increasingly volatile regional environment.

He expressed these views while addressing a national seminar organised by the General Cadres Doctors Association at Allama Iqbal Medical College in connection with Youm-e-Takbeer. The seminar was attended by Professor Dr Tayyaba Waseem, former provincial minister for health Dr Saeed Elahi, distinguished members of the medical fraternity, faculty members, students, and representatives from various sectors of society.

Malik Ahmad Khan observed that successive Indian governments, particularly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have continued to pursue expansionist narratives rooted in the concept of “Akhand Bharat.” However, he said, the people and leadership of Pakistan have consistently demonstrated an unflinching commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests at every critical juncture.

He further stated that India has historically attempted to promote narratives of ethnic and regional supremacy, adding that recent remarks by the Indian Army Chief regarding Pakistan were highly irresponsible, provocative, and contrary to the norms of responsible state conduct. He stressed that such statements undermine regional peace and stability and reflect a dangerous mindset that the international community must take seriously.

The Speaker further remarked that Pakistan’s neighbouring state has yet to fully reconcile with the reality of Pakistan’s independence and sovereign status. Nevertheless, he reaffirmed that the people of Pakistan would never compromise on their sovereignty, national honour, or constitutional identity under any circumstances.
