Withdrawal of Super Tax: Kayani doesn’t confirm any possibility

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani Thursday did not confirm any possibility of the withdrawal of the Super Tax in the coming budget (2026-27).
During the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, committee members inquired about the possibility of the withdrawal of the Super Tax in budget (2026-27). However, the minister did not respond “yes” or “no”.
Bilal Azhar Kayani acknowledged that the tax burden is very high on the corporate sector and we want to reduce the tax burden.

He clarified that the concerned Ministry as well as Tax Policy Office are actively engaged in seeking inputs from traders and retailers.
The Committee further discussed the issue of Super Tax and its broader implications for economic activity and business confidence.
