HAMBURG: South Korea’s Major Feedmill Group (MFG) has issued an international tender to purchase around 210,000 metric tons of animal feed corn, European traders said on Monday.

The corn is sought for arrival in South Korea in three consignments of 55,000 to 70,000 tons, all in September, with sellers free to offer any volume inside this range. The deadline for submission of price offers is May 12.

The first consignment for arrival in South Korea around September 3 was sought for shipment between July 26-August 14 if sourced from the US Pacific Northwest coast, between July 6-July 25 from the US Gulf, July 1-July 20 from South America or July 16-August 4 from South Africa.

The second consignment for arrival in South Korea around September 14 was sought for shipment between August 6-August 25 if sourced from the US Pacific Northwest coast, between July 17-August 5 from the US Gulf, July 12-July 31 from South America or July 27-August 15 from South Africa.

The third consignment for arrival in South Korea around September 22 was sought for shipment between August 14-September 2 if sourced from the US Pacific Northwest coast, between July 25-August 13 from the US Gulf, July 20-August 8 from South America or August 4-August 23 from South Africa.

The tender showed continued brisk Asian demand for corn, with Korean importer NOFI also buying around 200,000 tons in an international tender and private deal on Friday.
