I appreciate the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) for organizing the CFO Conference 2026 and for its continued contributions towards strengthening the accounting and financial reporting framework in Pakistan. ICAP has played an important role in promoting transparency, accountability, and professional excellence in line with its Charter. I extend my best wishes for the success of the conference and for ICAP’s continued achievements.

In today’s complex economic environment, the role of finance professionals has become more critical. Chief Financial Officers and Chartered Accountants are central to ensuring financial discipline, improving governance, and maintaining transparency within organizations. Their work supports informed decision-making, strengthens investor confidence, and contributes to sustainable economic growth.

Pakistan’s corporate sector is expanding, with thousands of new companies being registered each year. This growth is increasing the need for skilled professionals who can uphold high standards of financial reporting, compliance, and governance. Strengthening professional capacity will be essential to support this growth and to align with international best practices.

The theme of this year’s conference, “The New Playbook – Adapt, Innovate, Elevate,” reflects the direction the financial sector must take. Embracing innovation, adapting to technological changes, and maintaining strong governance standards will be key to navigating future challenges.

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan remains committed to promoting transparency, facilitating ease of doing business, and strengthening the regulatory framework. We believe that strong institutions, supported by competent professionals, are essential for building resilient and efficient financial markets.
