World Bank delegation visits FP Bund & RBOD drainage project
LARKANA: A delegation from the World Bank, accompanied by Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Sardar Khan Chandio, visited the FP Protective Bund and RBOD (Right Bank Outfall Drain) sum, as well as the Kheer Thar Mountains and Balochistan here on Saturday.
During the visit, PPP MPA Sardar Khan Chandio briefed the delegation about the damage caused by recent and upcoming flood and rainwater, as well as protective measures.
Meanwhile, World Bank delegation members Dr William and Syed Farrukh Hasan Sheikh, along with Sardar Khan Chandio, spoke to the media and stated that the floodwaters and rains of 2007, 2010, and 2022 damaged hundreds of villages and thousands of acres of crops, with the 2022 rains and the water from the sum causing immense destruction. To protect the people of Qambar district, with the cooperation of the Sindh government, the World Bank delegation today inspected the FP Bund and RBOD to deliberate on how to strengthen the embankments of the sum and Hamal Lake, easily drain the damaging water, and use that water to make the area lush and green for the prosperity of the people.
Sardar Khan Chandio further said that the Sindh government is taking excellent steps; with its efforts, God willing, the World Bank will construct small dams by channeling the damaging water in an optimal way, allowing the people to irrigate and farm, thereby bringing prosperity to the area.
On this occasion, Chief Engineer Mukhtar Abro, Municipal Qambar Chairman Nawabzade Rehan Khan Chandio, Pakistan Peoples Party Tehsil Warah President, and others were present.
