DPM Dar reviews implementation of fuel conservation, austerity measures
- Says all sectors must continue practicing conservation and austerity until circumstances improve
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Fuel Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures, reviewing progress on the government’s cost-cutting steps, his office said.
According to a statement shared on X, Dar expressed satisfaction over compliance with the austerity measures and stressed that, given the current challenges, all sectors must continue practicing conservation and austerity until circumstances improve.
He said only those cases seeking exemption from the austerity measures should be brought before the committee, which are essential for carrying out critical and time-bound government work.

Federal Minister for Information Technology also presented a dashboard prepared for tracking the implementation of austerity measures during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers for IT and Climate Change, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, secretaries of the Cabinet Division, National Security Division, Petroleum Division, and Planning Division, chief secretaries of all provinces, and other senior officials from relevant ministries.
