Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) announced on Saturday the formation of national committees on various international forums, including Economic Cooperation Organization Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ECO CCI), Pakistan–EU Business Forum, Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), Pakistan–ASEAN Business Forum, Commonwealth, D-8 CCI and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation(OIC).

In a press release today, the federation said it had also launched its membership drive among trade bodies, chambers and associations across the country.

“This important initiative will significantly enhance Pakistan’s effective representation and proactive participation in regional and global economic platforms by institutionalising engagement with leading international organisations in a more coordinated and result-oriented manner to promote trade, investment and economic interests of the country,” FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said.

The chief further said these committees will comprise experienced representatives from the business community and relevant stakeholders with a strong understanding of international markets.

This will enable them to deliberate on emerging global trends, policy developments, and new opportunities for Pakistan, while strengthening liaison with international chambers and Pakistan’s commercial missions abroad, he added.

“The initiative reflects FPCCI’s commitment to aligning Pakistan’s business community with evolving global economic dynamics and will play a vital role in enhancing trade diplomacy; promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation – identifying new avenues for exports, investments, and joint ventures; and providing effective policy input to the government,” he said

The president expressed confidence that these committees will strengthen Pakistan’s economic footprint globally; improve institutional linkages with foreign counterparts, and contribute towards sustainable economic growth, while ensuring broad-based and inclusive representation through nominations invited from trade bodies nationwide.
