KARACHI: Pakistan Railways has introduced round-the-clock reservation service at key stations in its Karachi division in a move aimed at improving passenger convenience and modernising service delivery.

According to PR officials, the initiative has been launched under the direction of Federal Minister for Railways Mohammad Hanif Abbasi and implemented by Divisional Superintendent Karachi Jamshed Alam.

Under the plan, computerised reservation counters at major stations including Karachi City, Karachi Cantt, Drigh Road, Landhi, Hyderabad and Tando Adam will now operate 24 hours a day, allowing passengers to book tickets at any time.

Officials said the measure is designed to ease travel planning, reduce long queues and eliminate time constraints associated with limited booking hours, particularly for passengers travelling on busy intercity routes. “This step will significantly improve the overall travel experience by providing greater flexibility and accessibility.”

Pakistan Railways, which has faced challenges ranging from aging infrastructure to service inefficiencies, has in recent years sought to enhance customer services through digitalisation and operational reforms.

Authorities said the expansion of around-the-clock reservation facilities reflects a broader push to rebuild public confidence in rail travel and align services with modern passenger needs.
