PARIS: European Union soft wheat exports since the start of the 2025/26 season in July had reached 18.57 million metric tons by April 12, compared with 18 million tons a week earlier and up 8percent year-on-year, according to European Commission data on Tuesday.

A breakdown of this season’s volumes showed Romania remained the largest EU soft wheat exporter at 6.22 million tons, followed by France at 4.85 million, Poland at 2.37 million, Lithuania at 1.81 million and Germany at 1.51 million.

EU barley exports totalled 7.81 million tons, compared with 7.65 million tons a week earlier and up 88percent from the corresponding period of 2024/25.

However, the Commission said export data for France were incomplete since the start of calendar year 2024, for Bulgaria and Ireland since the start of the 2023/24 marketing year and for Greece since January 2026.

It also said anomalously high Romanian durum wheat export figures for 2025/26 may be linked to a reporting error.
