LAHORE: Sharif Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CTC (Centro de Tecnologia Canavieira), a leading Brazilian sugarcane biotechnology and breeding company recognised globally for its advanced research, development, and commercialisation of high-performance sugarcane varieties.
CTC is at the forefront of sugarcane innovation, with strong expertise in biotechnology, genetic improvement, transgenic solutions, and genome-editing technologies, supporting higher yields, disease resistance, and enhanced productivity across diverse agro-climatic conditions.
Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate on establishing the required infrastructure to conduct field trials in Pakistan, initiating field evaluations of CTC sugarcane materials (including varieties, clones, and fuzz) under local conditions, developing diagnostic tools for effective variety management, and launching technical training and knowledge exchange programs.
This strategic partnership reflects Sharif Group’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s agricultural productivity through cutting-edge biotechnology, research-driven solutions, and international collaboration aimed at modernizing the sugarcane sector.
