ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Spokesperson Shazia Marri said the Islamabad talks were a “major breakthrough” in efforts to reduce tensions, promote dialogue, and represent the only viable path forward.

“Pakistan has once again demonstrated its commitment to global peace by facilitating important negotiations in Islamabad. In a significant development, representatives from the United States and Iran came together at the negotiating table, which is clear evidence of Pakistan’s successful diplomacy,” she said in a statement on Monday.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s role, Marri said that the country will continue to pursue peace at all levels and urged the international community to support ongoing diplomatic efforts. She said Islamabad has now emerged as a key hub for peace and dialogue.

While quoting PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, she said the talks mark one of the most important diplomatic successes to date. “The very fact that negotiations have taken place is itself a major achievement,” she said, emphasizing that dialogue — not conflict — is the only viable path forward.
