ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has a vital role in implementing the state policy, vowing that the federal agency would be transformed into a robust and trustworthy institution.
Addressing the newly appointed assistant directors, inspectors in the FIA, and officers posted in Islamabad, he said that the FIA has a crucial role to play in implementing the government’s “hardening the state” policy. He described the FIA as the only federal institution capable of enforcing the writ of the government across the country.
Naqvi said that strengthening the FIA into a robust and trustworthy institution remains a top priority of the government. Dealing with multiple challenges by the FIA with the strength of 2008 personnel is difficult, he said, adding that the workforce of the agency will be increased.
Interior Minister said that under the dynamic leadership of the newly appointed Director General (DG) Dr Usman Anwar, the FIA would be transformed into an active and effective institution. He set a target to modernize and strengthen the agency by December 31, 2026, emphasizing that addressing shortcomings and improving the system remain top priorities.
Naqvi said that all necessary facilities would be provided to FIA staff. “Promotion is the right of every employee, and efforts are underway to improve the service structure to ensure timely promotion.
He announced that plots would be provided to the families of all martyrs. He said that a comprehensive welfare plan, including education, health, and other benefits, would be framed soon.
Reaffirming the government’s stance on accountability, the interior minister declared a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption, warning that no leniency would be shown to those involved in corrupt practices. He assured that honest officers would receive full protection and job security, adding that the government stands firmly with those who uphold truth and integrity.
DG FIA Dr Usman Anwar also addressed the conference. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Federal Secretary for Interior Khurram Agha were also present on the occasion.
