LAHORE: Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Bilal Yaseen has called for strict monitoring of ongoing development projects across the province, warning that contractors who fail to complete work within the stipulated time will be blacklisted.
While chairing a meeting regarding the Punjab Development Plan on Saturday, the Minister expressed strong displeasure over contractors who are failing to maintain the pace of work. On this occasion, Punjab Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, WASA Managing Directors from 15 districts and relevant contractors were present in the meeting.
Yaseen directed the contractors to increase manpower and machinery and ensure 24/7 work progress. He made it clear that contractors who fail to complete projects within the given timeline will be blacklisted.
He also warned that strict action will be taken against factories involved in increasing construction material prices and hoarding. “No concession will be given to those using regional conditions as an excuse to raise prices,” he added.
The Secretary informed during the briefing that WASA complexes will be further improved and made more cost-effective. The performance of WASA Managing Directors will be monitored based on the pace of work, he added.
