KARACHI: Local bullion market saw a mixed session on Saturday as gold prices retreated in line with global trends while silver managed to hold its ground with a slight gain, traders said.
According to All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of gold per tola declined by Rs700, settling at Rs496,962. The rate for 10 grams decreased by Rs600 to Rs426,064.
The global market set the downturn, sliding by USD7 to trade gold bullion at USD4,746 per ounce while silver held nearly firm, rising by USD1 to reach USD76 per ounce.
Mirroring the international thin rise, domestic silver market registered gains by Rs50 per tola, taking the new rate to Rs8,064. Silver prices in the 10-gram category were valued Rs43 higher at Rs6,913.
It is worth noting that the open market may trade gold and silver at different prices as compared to those officially established by the Jewellers Association.
