Starmer praises Pakistan’s peace efforts in call with PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday received a telephone call from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating the US-Iran ceasefire and the resumption of dialogue.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Starmer congratulated PM Shehbaz on hosting the peace negotiations in Islamabad and conveyed his best wishes for the success of the talks.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability and welcomed the joint statement issued by European and international leaders, including Starmer, supporting Pakistan’s peace initiatives.

Both leaders stressed the importance of ensuring that the ceasefire holds and creates conditions for lasting peace and stability in the region.

They also agreed to work together to further strengthen the longstanding friendly ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom across areas of mutual interest.

The prime minister reiterated his invitation to Starmer to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
