LAHORE: Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, has extended congratulations to the Iranian leadership and nation on their resolve and steadfastness following the US-Israel-Iran ceasefire agreement, while also praising the government of Pakistan’s efforts to help maintain regional peace.

In a video message released from Mansoorah, he stated that the aggressive claims made by the United States and Israel to dismantle Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes had failed despite alleged violations of international law. He said the ceasefire agreement, which centered on reopening the Strait of Hormuz after six weeks of conflict, represented a strategic success for Iran and a victory for its planning.

Rehman lauded the role of the government of Pakistan in preventing a total collapse of security in the Gulf region by maintaining a balance between its defense commitments to Saudi Arabia and efforts to support normalization of ties between Tehran and Riyadh. He claimed that the conflict had exposed what he described as the reality of American democracy as a facade, alleging that Washington acts under the influence of Zionist lobbies and arms manufacturers.

The JI chief further asserted that the era of American global hegemony had ended following what he termed a moral, diplomatic, and military setback that had alienated global citizens and strained relations with some European allies.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s future role, he said the country must maintain neutral diplomacy and strengthen regional ties. He urged Pakistan to finalize oil and gas agreements with Tehran and suggested expanding the Pakistan-Saudi defense cooperation framework to include Iran, Turkey, and other Gulf states, stating that regional cooperation had become essential for collective security.

While expressing satisfaction that the ceasefire was linked to developments in Gaza Strip and Lebanon, he condemned continued Israeli military actions and called on the United States to hold Israel accountable rather than extending what he described as unconditional support.
