ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has said that to ensure transparency and accountability in the National Highway Authority (NHA), he will leave no stone unturned to eradicate corruption from the institution.

While chairing the high-level meeting of NHA, the federal communications minister took strict notice of heavy expenditures under the guise of maintenance. He made it clear that any form of corruption under the cover of repair work would not be tolerated. He directed the Chairman of the NHA to immediately formulate a comprehensive and integrated plan for institutional reforms.

He stated that while efforts are being made to save every penny, it is unacceptable that funds are being misused at lower levels. Therefore, any financial irregularity or corruption at any level would not be accepted. He further instructed NHA to hire competent, capable, and honest executives from the private sector to improve the Institution’s performance. He emphasised the need to complete pending inquiries promptly, ensure full accountability of utilised funds, and implement a strict monitoring system.
