Nation celebrates Pakistan Day today
- Day dawned with thirty-one-gun salute in federal capital and twenty-one-gun salute in provincial capitals
The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day today with a renewed pledge to transform the country into a true Islamic and welfare state in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
The day is celebrated to commemorate the historic Lahore Resolution passed on 23rd March in 1940 which set the agenda of a separate homeland for Muslims of the Sub-Continent.
The day dawned with thirty-one-gun salute in the federal capital and twenty-one-gun salute in provincial capitals.
Special prayers were offered in mosques after Fajar prayers for progress and prosperity of the country.
“Pakistan Day reminds us that unity and solidarity are the most important elements in transforming national resolve into reality,” President Zardari said in a post on X.
PM Shehbaz in his message said the government had steered Pakistan’s economy towards sustainable growth despite numerous challenges.
He said sustainable peace in South Asia was linked to the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue and Pakistan would continue to extend moral, political, and diplomatic support to people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
