PARIS: European Union soft wheat exports since the start of the 2025/26 season in July had reached 16.77 million metric tons by March 15, compared to 16.50 million the previous week and up 8percent over a year earlier, European Commission data showed on Tuesday.
A breakdown of this season’s volumes showed Romania was still the largest EU soft wheat exporter, with 5.51 million tons exported so far, followed by France with 4.57 million tons, Poland with 1.92 million tons, Lithuania with 1.81 million tons, and Germany with 1.31 million tons.
However, the Commission said grain export data for France was missing since the beginning of calendar year 2024, while export data for Bulgaria and Ireland is not complete since the beginning of marketing year 2023/24. Export data for Greece is not complete since mid-December 2025, it added.
Anomalously high durum wheat export figures reported by Romania for 2025/26 may be linked to a reporting error that has been identified, with corrective steps reportedly underway, it said.
EU barley exports totalled 6.84 million tons, compared to 6.75 million tons a week earlier and up 82percent from the corresponding period of 2024/25.
