ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy said on Friday that it will continue providing routine and emergency assistance to American citizens, but has cancelled all immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments through March 20.
In a statement posted on X, the embassy said affected visa applicants will receive instructions by email on how to reschedule their appointments.
Applicants can also check the status of their visa appointments through the US visa services website, according to the embassy.
Despite the visa cancellations, the embassy said it remains operational for US citizens who require routine or emergency consular assistance.

Meanwhile, all consular services at the US Consulate General Karachi and the US Consulate General Lahore remain suspended, the statement added.
The embassy did not provide further details on the reason for the cancellations or when services at the two consulates might resume.
The United States maintains diplomatic missions across Pakistan to provide consular services, including visa processing and assistance to American citizens.
The temporary suspension of visa appointments and consular operations may affect applicants planning travel to the United States in the coming weeks.
