Transfer of power to local level result of Bilawal’s vision: Nasir Shah
KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the transfer of powers to the grassroots level is the vision of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, and the mission of the government. He stated that it is not possible to deliver relief to people at their doorstep without fully empowering elected local government representatives.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the committee formed to review amendments to local government laws. The meeting was attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly Qasim Siraj Soomro, the Secretary of Local Government, and a technocrat member of the Local Government Commission.
During the meeting, various proposals regarding the proposed amendments to local government laws were discussed in detail. Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that Deputy Mayors and Vice Chairmen will be granted full powers to strengthen the local government system, while the new amendments are aimed at bringing positive and meaningful changes for the public. He informed that committee member MPA Qasim Siraj Soomro and the Secretary of Local Government presented several proposals during the meeting, which were thoroughly discussed.
