ISLAMABAD: In a move to reinforce the government’s austerity drive, federal ministers, advisers, and ministers of state have voluntarily decided to forgo their salaries, with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb confirming that he has not drawn his salary since assuming office.

According to an official document issued by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, the Finance Minister submitted a certificate stating that he has voluntarily foregone his monthly salary since taking oath as senator and federal minister on March 11, 2024, and will continue the practice during his tenure.

The Ministry of Finance forwarded the certificate to the Cabinet Division as part of the official record relating to the government’s austerity measures, under which federal ministers, advisers, and ministers of state have agreed to voluntarily relinquish their salaries.
