LAHORE: On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, strict security arrangements were ensured across the province, including Lahore, on the occasion of the Day of Martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Al-Murtaza (RA). In view of the western border situation, IG Punjab issued instructions to all field formations to remain on high alert and enhance security for mourning processions and gatherings.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed that the activities of Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan should be closely monitored, while officers and personnel deployed at inter-provincial border check posts should remain extremely alert.
IG Punjab said that more than 30,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the security of mourning processions and gatherings across the province, including Lahore. According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, 20,000 officers and personnel performed duties for the security of 217 mourning processions, while more than 10,000 officers and personnel performed duties for the security of 994 gatherings across the province. In the provincial capital Lahore, more than 8,000 officers and personnel were deployed for the security of mourning processions and gatherings. Punjab Police spokesperson further said that across Punjab, including Lahore, 32 mourning processions of Category-A were taken out while 67 gatherings were held.
On the directions of IG Punjab Abdul Kareem, complete checking of the participants of mourning processions and gatherings was ensured.
