KARACHI: In observance of Youm-e-Shahadat (Martyrdom Day) of Hazrat Ali (RA), all commercial centres and markets across Karachi will remain closed until before Iftar on the 21st of Ramazan, namely Wednesday.

The announcement was made on Monday by Muhammad Ismail Lalpuri, the spokesman for the joint bodies of the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran and the All City Tajir Ittehad Association.

In a statement, Lalpuri explained that the precautionary measure has been taken in view of the main procession scheduled for the day. He specifically noted that all markets situated along the route of the procession will remain completely shut down as a security precaution.

He has appealed to the business community to strictly adhere to the shutdown schedule. He emphasized that this cooperation is vital for maintaining law and order and for supporting security agencies in their duties.

Business operations are expected to resume as normal after the conclusion of the procession and the offering of Maghrib prayers. Markets will then remain open for business until late at night.
