Federal ministries, divisions and depts: 108,175 posts vacant: Senator Cheema
ISLAMABAD: Minister In-charge of the Establishment Division, Senator Ahad Khan Cheema, said that according to the records of the Establishment Division, 108,175 posts are vacant in federal ministries, divisions, and departments.
In a written reply to a question, the minister said that 172,234 posts are also vacant in corporations, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, and authorities. He added that grade-wise details of these vacant posts are not easily available.
However, the data can be prepared, but it will require more time.
He further explained that autonomous organizations such as the State Bank of Pakistan, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited have their own grading and pay systems. He said that these are different from the pay scales used for civil servants.
The minister also said that following a decision taken in a Cabinet meeting held on August 27, 2024, a total of 44,314 posts have been abolished during the last two years. In addition, 620 surplus employees were adjusted in different departments after being placed in the Surplus Pool during the same period, he said.
