ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China on Monday held extensive discussions on the evolving regional situation, particularly in the wake of US-Israel strikes on Iran and cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of China to Pakistan here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and continued consultations, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Later in the day, Senator Ishaq Dar also spoke with EU High Representative and Vice President Kaja Kallas. Both sides expressed deep concern over recent developments in Iran and the wider Middle East.
The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the urgent need for dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation.
He further briefed the HRVP on Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions and appreciated the EU’s constructive engagement. Both sides agreed to maintain close contact as the regional situation continues to evolve.
