Pakistan condemns ‘unwarranted’ attacks against Iran
- Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar receives call from Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi
Pakistan condemned on Saturday “unwarranted attacks” against Iran by Israel and the United States and called for an immediate halt to escalation in the Middle East.
The development came after Israel and US carried out attacks on Iran, and Tehran launched retaliatory strikes on regional bases.
Following the strikes, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received a call from Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
“They reviewed the evolving situation in Iran and the wider region,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on X.
“DPM/FM strongly condemned the unwarranted attacks against Iran and called for an immediate halt to escalation through urgent resumption of diplomacy to achieve a peaceful, negotiated resolution to the crisis,” the post said.
Later during the day, Dar also spoke with Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov to exchange views on current regional developments.
“Both leaders emphasised the importance of peace and stability in the region and agreed to stay closely engaged on evolving developments,” the Foriegn Office said.
