RIYADH: Saudi Arabia condemned Iranian attacks targeting its neighbours in a statement released by the kingdom’s official press agency Saturday, following a flurry of salvos across the Middle East as Israel and the US bombed Iran.

“The kingdom strongly condemns and denounces in the strongest terms the brutal Iranian aggression and the blatant violation of the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” said the statement.

However, there was no mention in the statement of Iran targeting Saudi Arabia after several explosions were heard in the Saudi capital Riyadh by AFP journalists earlier Saturday.

Israel and US launch attacks on Iran, deepening regional crisis

Israel and US launched attacks against Iran on Saturday, pushing the Middle East into a renewed military confrontation and further dimming hopes for a diplomatic solution to Tehran’s long-running nuclear dispute with the West.

The attack, coming after Israel and Iran engaged in a 12-day air war in June, follows repeated US-Israeli warnings that they would strike again if Iran pressed ahead with its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.
